Grandma Sullivan

I found out that there was a really cool lady I was related to that I didn't know very well. Nick's great grandma Sullivan died last week. She was 95 years old, and the last of her siblings. I'm happy that she is with all of her siblings now. I did not know how fascinating her life really was. Her obituary is here ---> http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/deseretnews/obituary.aspx?n=ramona-hinckley-sullivan&pid=153493100#.TmeY6kjpbgk.facebook

I loved hearing the stories about her life. She was a very cheerful person. The few times that I met her she was always smiling. She studied art at the Art Institute of Chicago. She traveled the world. She was loved by many people. One of the stories I heard that I thought was funny was that one evening when she was spending time with her brother, Gordon B. Hinckley, or Gord I think is what she called him, they were the only two siblings from their family still alive, and she told him that she didn't want him to leave her all by herself. So Pres Hinckley, it's weird but that's what I have always known him as, told her okay. Well a few weeks before Pres Hinckley died he called Ramona and told her she had better get ready because he knew he didn't have much longer.

After the funeral we went back to her house and all the grandkids and great grandkids, went through the things she had. I completely wish I had known her when I was growing up, because just from the things she had you could tell she was an amazing lady. She had so many different things from the places she went to. I wish she could've been there to tell me all about everything and all the stories that went with them. I feel like just seeing what she had and hearing all the wonderful stories about her helped me know her a little better. I think part of knowing who she was is knowing her family. Her children and grandchildren. From seeing how wonderful they all are, I can tell she was an amazing parent, and grandmother, and great grandmother. I am so grateful for the family that I have gained. I hope that I can be as amazing as she was someday.
